Dental Xrays and Intra Oral Imaging

16-hour course, combination of didactic and clinical training

Course Description

Students will learn how to expose and evaluate digital xrays for diagnostic quality, radiation safety for patient and operator, radiology regulations and infection control. The students will use mannequins to take and expose xrays. 

Students must agree to be a patient to learn how to use the intra oral imaging with an intra oral camera. The course will review the follow specific types of xrays and techniques: Bitewing Techniques, Occlusal Techniques, Periapical Techniques, and Panoramic Techniques.

COURSE PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS

Be at least 18 years of age , hold current CPR card
AND
(2a) Complete 1,000 hours of clinical dental assisting experience
OR
(2b) Complete a Illinois Board Approved dental assisting program
OR
(2c) Hold a current national DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certification
